Keeping your valves well-oiled is essential for smooth playing and proper maintenance.

Follow these simple steps to oil your valves correctly:

Before you start:
  • Work in a clean area to avoid dust or dirt getting into the instrument.

  • Only remove one valve at a time to prevent mixing them up.

Step-by-Step Guide

1️⃣ Unscrew the top of the valve (not the valve cap).

2️⃣ Gently remove the valve from the trumpet.

3️⃣ Apply a few drops of valve oil to the fat part of the valve (the section with all the holes).

4️⃣ Carefully place the valve back into the same hole it was removed from.

5️⃣Turn the valve cap until you hear a click—this means the valve is in place.

6️⃣ Gently wiggle the valve up and down to spread the oil evenly.

7️⃣ Blow into the trumpet to check if air flows through.

  • 🎵 If it makes a sound, the valve is in correctly.

  • 🚫 If no sound comes out, the valve is in the wrong way—turn it 180° and try again.

8️⃣ Ensure the number on the valve faces your nose when playing.

9️⃣ Carefully screw the valve top back on, making sure not to cross-thread it.

Tips for Success

✔️ Blue Juice is an excellent valve oil for all brass instruments.

✔️ Oil your valves regularly (every few days if playing frequently).

✔️ Do not use too much oil—a few drops are enough.

✔️ Always handle valves gently to avoid damage.

By following these steps, your valves will stay in great condition, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable playing experience! 🎺✨
